Sonik Vader X Pro 10000 Reel: A Total Fishing Tackle Review

Sonik Vader X Pro 10000 Reel
Every now and then a product catches my eye that I really like and the Sonik Vader X Pro 10000 Reel is one of those. It has caused quite a stir in the carp fishing world so I decided to take a closer look and see what all the fuss was about. Now, if like me you don't fancy weighing out £750 of your hard earned cash for a top of the range reel then you will no doubt be interested to hear that there are many alternatives that offer fantastic performance at a price that is more palatable to the average, hard working carp angler. At just £69.99 the Vader X Pro may appear to be a cheap and inferior reel but let me tell you, every now and then a company nails the brief and gets it spot on and Sonik have certainly done just that.
Firstly let's hear what Sonik have to say.... 'The VADER X PRO 10,000 is robust large capacity reel for fishing long and hard conditions. Worm shaft transmission offers perfect line lay and the floating rotor line guard helps to prevent any tangles. Surprisingly light for its size this reel will also retrieve over 1m of line per turn. High impact captive line clips will help with your accuracy and the quick torque drag system will keep you in control of the largest carp on the planet.' Not exactly a thorough assessment of of their own product but here a few of the features anyway;
-
Gear Ratio 4.6:1
-
6 + 1 Ball bearings
-
Micro line lay adjustment washer
-
Matt black anodised aluminium handle with wood barrel knob
-
Weight – 575g
-
Capacity: MM/M 0.30/480 0.35/390 0.40/270
-
Gear Ratio: 4.6:1
So what makes it so special? Well pick one up and it will all become clear, use one and you will love it. There is a feeling of reliability, solidness and confidence when you pick up the Vader X 10000 reel, it makes you think that it won't let you down. The aesthetics are a joy, the wooden handle looks the part and the all black body, rotor and spool give it a look of a reel with a price tag that is considerably higher. The line lay is actually very good and the quick drag system works and works well. I am struggling for any negatives and when I think I may have found one, I refer back to the £69.99 price tag. For the money, there is nothing better.

Fishing for me has long been more than a hobby, but more of an obsession. Since as far back as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by water, and all that which lives below the surface, and subsequently, as soon as I was old enough to hold a fishing rod, my angling journey started.
