Carp Fishing Rod Pods & Rests FAQs

What are the benefits of using a pod vs a single stick rest?

The advantage of a pod over bank sticks is that you don't need to push these into a substrate meaning they are perfect for situations where you cannot push the sticks into the ground, such as when fishing from platforms, or on really hard terrain.

Do pods have to be pushed into the ground/terrain?

No, this is their main advantage over banksticks.

Are pods or single stick rests easier to set up and transport?

This will vary entirely depending on the pod design, and make-up. Some pods will not fold up/collapse as small or as compact as others, unlike bank stick and buzz bar setups which will streamline down. However, some compact pods will fold up small enough to fit in your rucksack and are extremely compact.

What are the main differences between the more expensive pods and the cheaper options?

More expensive pods will be better designed and constructed from stronger and/or lighter materials such as stainless steel or aluminium.

Can I attach my bite alarm to pods and/or single stick rests?

Most pods will require a buzz bar which with some is supplied or will be purchased separately so that alarms and butt rests can be attached.

Can a pod be moved to different locations once set up?

You can move a pod once set up, just lift the rods off the rests and it can be picked up and moved.
