Best Spinning Reels: A Total Fishing Tackle Review

Best Spinning Reels: A Total Fishing Tackle Review

Lure fishing has become a lot more popular in recent years, many anglers are turning to predator fishing in the winter months and lure fishing is one of the most popular methods to try. We have put together our favourite spinning reels that will have you catching all day long!

WHAT IS SPINNING?

Spinning for predatory fish is one of the oldest forms of fishing, it involves attaching a lure, usually to a wire trace on the end of your line, then casting the lure or spinner out into the lake and retrieving it to imitate a fish swimming. Hopefully, the intended species will see the fish or feel the vibrations in the water made by the lure and assume it must be food! Using the right kit is essential as lure fishing involves lots of casting and walking!

PRODUCT INFORMATION

We asked some predator anglers and they all voted for the Savage Gear SG6 as their favourite from our list!

'To make a reel with peerless strength and power you have to make some compromises, right? Wrong. The SG6 is made with a Carbon Reinforced Composite (CRC) body and rotor, which is designed to increase stiffness and strength but with a much lower weight than standard graphite material. It can handle whatever extreme forces you throw at it, and it won’t weigh you down. But it’s not all about strength, the SG6 is packed with other smart details such as a Braid-Ready spool that eliminates the need for mono backing, our proprietary Dura Grease for smooth and long-lasting operation, an aluminium spool, screw-in diecast handle and T-shaped line clip for easier operation.'

KEY POINTS

  • Variety plenty of reel sizes to choose from
  • Braid Ready no need for any backing
  • Lightweight easy to hold for periods of time
  • Comfortable for casting and retrieving lures

Fishing for me has long been more than a hobby, but more of an obsession. Since as far back as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by water, and all that which lives below the surface, and subsequently, as soon as I was old enough to hold a fishing rod, my angling journey started.
