Looking for Fishing Line for A Specific Style?

Carp Fishing Line: These types of line are built with strong, abrasion resistant materials which help to withstand long and powerful runs that carp often give us. Whether you're casting at distance or close to snags, our carp fishing line delivers the reliability and sensitivity required to detect every bite and successfully land the fish.

Coarse Fishing Line: These types of line are built with finesse and strength in mind. This makes them great for targeting coarse species. Whether you're doing a bit of float fishing or feeder fishing from the bottom, our coarse fishing line ensures smooth casting and dependable performance every time you hit the water.

Predator Fishing Line: These types of line are built with high abrasion resistance and robust strength, ensuring you have the control needed to handle the powerful fight of these fierce predators. Whether you are targeting pike or other aggressive species, our predator fishing line provides the necessary durability and sensitivity to detect subtle bites and withstand sudden bursts of energy.

Sea Fishing Line: These types of line are built with exceptional durability and resistance to saltwater corrosion, making them a reliable choice for anglers who are targeting sea fish. Whether you're fishing from the beach, off a boat, or off the end of the pier, our sea fishing line provides the strength and sensitivity needed to tackle a wide range of saltwater species.

Fishing Line FAQs

What are the types of fishing line?

Fishing lines will break down into 3 main categories, which are monofilament (mono), fluorocarbon, and braid, each of which will be different brands and traits.

  • Monofilament Line: These are synthetic and tick multiple boxes in terms of performance. Monofilament is used in around 70% of angling situations, unlike a braid or a fluorocarbon, where the limitations can be more noticeable. It also possesses a wide array of features or benefits and is also user-friendly. You can be selective for specific traits to suit the chosen situation. That could mean low stretch, floating/sinking, extra supple for long-range casting, abrasion resistance, or low visual traits making it a great reel line. Selecting the right monofilament line for you is vitally important. Check out our 10 Best Carp Fishing Lines blog post for more information.
  • Fluorocarbon Line: This is virtually invisible in water, very low stretch, highly abrasion resistant and incredibly heavy, meaning it sinks well keeping it pinned down in the lake. This means it's great for both mainline and leaders, as well as for hooklinks due to its strength and durability, and low visual trait. However, its one downside, is that due to its weight, it does not cast as well, so as a result it is not the best choice for long range, eg distances of 100yds or more.
  • Braid Line: This offers zero stretch and so with it, exceptional bite indication, as well as good casting capabilities, due to its exceptionally low diameter, however the thinner the braid, the less abrasion resistant it will be. Braids will come in floating, sinking and neutral buoyancy to choose your chosen method, and like fluorocarbon can be used as both mainline and designated braids for hooklinks.

How much does fishing line cost?

This is very dependent on the type of line and quantity. Mono will be cheaper as it's easier to manufacture, whereas braids and fluorocarbon are more expensive.

What's the best fishing line brand?

There are a large number of brands when it comes to line, so it's well worth checking out the array of these that can be found on our website.

What is a breaking strain?

Breaking strain refers to the suggested weight the line will break at. However most mono and fluorocarbon lines break higher than their suggested breaking strain, however, they will be slightly weaker at the knot.

How do I look after my fishing line?

To look after your line, ensure it is not stored in direct sunlight and also clean it periodically between sessions. To do this simply walk it out over a field or round some distance sticks, and wind it back through a towel under tension, this will clean the line and help to remove twist. This is more important with mono and fluorocarbon line rather than braid.

What strength fishing line do I need?

This is entirely subjective to the size of fish you are targeting and the ranges you are fishing, as well as the fishery rules to where you are going.
