Can I just use a standard ‘camping style’ sleeping bag?

You can but these are not always suited to fishing environments or a fixable to a bed.

What do the seasonal ratings mean?

The seasonal ratings are an indication of the warmth of the bag, designed as an estimate to suit the season. A 3 season bag is suited for spring through to Autumn, and a 4 season is all year round. 5 Season bags, are often a twin layer, so can change which layer to suit the time of year or have an additional thermal layer/cover to make them warmer right into the coldest of conditions.

Are the sleeping bags waterproof?

No, not as standard, you would require a waterproof bed cover, of which many are thermal for additional comfort and protection.

Can the sleeping bags be attached to my bed chair?

Most will be fixed via clips, or hooks over the head and foot ends of the beds.

Are there different sizes of sleeping bag?

There will be slight variations, more so in width, so it is worth checking the dimensions.

What are the main differences between the more expensive sleeping bag and the cheaper options?

Quite simply, warmth. The higher-rating bags will be more expensive and often offer better thermal properties.
