Best Carp Fishing Syndicates: A Total Fishing Tackle Review

carp fishing syndicate
Carp syndicates are often regarded as being able to offer the pinnacle of big-quality carp! Often offering reduced numbers in terms of membership, they tend to offer quieter banks, with some of the best carp you can target. If you haven't thought of joining one in the past, then now is a good time to start thinking about it, especially if the idea of only paying once for your fishing at the start of the year appeals more than spending out on day tickets every time you go fishing. Here is our list of some of the best carp syndicates out there.

1. CWA Fisheries

The brainchild of Yateley carp angler Alan Cooper, CWA Fisheries controls 4 different venues in their portfolio all with a distinct appeal. The Roach Pit is probably their most famous venue, purchased by CWA in August 2012, this Ringwood Gravel Pit has undergone significant investment in the stock and the protection of the fishery from predation. Containing a sensible head of stunning carp to mid-forty, Roach Pit is one of the most sought-after tickets in the UK.

Next, we have the Nursery Lake in Berkshire a wild and largely unkept gravel pit of about 35 acres, half of which is no fishing. If you want a challenge then this is the one for you! Although the exact stock is relatively unknown, Alan himself has fished the venue extensively over the years, and with carp to well over 40lb, this small but very traditional syndicate is always in demand.

We are moving to Yateley now, the home of the Record British Crucian Carp, Little Moulsham. Kept under wraps for many years, Alan purchased Little Moulsham and instantly set about turning the lake into a syndicate that any carp angler would feel at home on, there are two anglers' shelters around the lake, with cooking gear, fire pits, and BBQ's and areas to relax when the weather is both good and bad! The fish stock comprises the original stock from the purchase numbering around thirty fish to 30lb in weight, Alan then added another 70 carp from various sources but with a mix of scaley, linear, and near leathers. All the hard work has certainly paid off with roughly twenty different 30lb fish and four of those rapidly approaching, if not already over, the magical 40lb mark.

Lastly, we have Long Lake, founded in 2012 from a former disused gravel pit in Berkshire. At 9 acres in size and although the lake is only 100 yards at its widest point, the swims are laid out in such a way that every angler has their piece of water. The stock is truly exceptional with multiple fish over the 40lb mark and some of those are significantly closer to 50lb! The rest of the 70 or so residents are equally as sought after, with many zip lines, dark scaley leney strain mirrors, and some big Dinton strain lumps! This lake has a staggering amount of stunning carp and it's not surprisingly one of the most sought-after tickets around. In terms of a portfolio of lakes, there are not many better than CWA Fisheries. What a start to our list of the best carp syndicates!

2. Grenville Syndicate

Grenville Lake is a mature, windswept 72-acre gravel pit in the heart of rural Cambridgeshire. Depths of up to 38 feet hide an extraordinary stock of very large carp. A ticket for Grenville is highly sought after but with a syndicate bigger than most due to the size of the lake, places do come up every year. Containing fish to over 60lb and with predictions of a 70lb carp possible, it's easy to see why Grenville is so popular.

Now in its 10th year there is a staggering number of 40lb plus carp and because all the fish are chipped and scanned every time they are caught, growth rates and fish stocks are about as accurate as possible! From what I can gather there are well over 120 different 40lb carp present and about twenty 50lb carp as well! The number of 30lb plus fish sits at 429! The stock is even more special when you realise that the majority of fish were stocked between 4lb and 6lb and are averaging growth at 5lb a year! It doesn't take a genius to work out how big those fish will be in a few more years!

To get on the waiting list there is a yearly fee to pay, not only does this weed out the time wasters but it also allows you to fish the lake via guest session every year as well, a superb way of operating a syndicate if you ask me. There is not a lot to dislike about the Grenville syndicate and with the fish getting bigger and bigger, it's a ticket that is going to be even more sought after!

3. Linch Hill Fishery - Stoneacres

If you want big, dark beautiful scaley carp, the Stoneacres is most certainly up there as one of the very best! This beautiful 47-acre pit is nestled as the North West corner of a complex 3 of lakes on site, all set in the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside, including Christchurch, Willows, all holding beautiful scaly carp!

However Stoneacres is not one for the faint of heart, as the carp that reside in its weedy crystal clear waters do not give themselves up easily. That said, those who do wish to put the effort in, and are able to fish to the long ranges required, can be rewarded with some of the most beautiful carp in not just Oxford, but the UK, with amazing carp such as Kev's Lin or Choco well into the high forties, along with numerous other large scaly 30 and 40lb carp!

4. Essex Carp Syndicates - The Rise

At just 10 acres, The Rise has a phenomenal head of big carp and according to the website, currently, there are over 170 fish all over 20lb, also over 65 x 30s, 24 x fish that go over the 40lb plus, and 3 x 50s up to 55lb 14oz. Understandably fishing of this caliber doesn't come cheap but The Rise is still on the right side of four figures.

The lake is part of the Essex Carp Syndicates portfolio and with a self-sustaining stocking program, the fisheries are in good hands! I'll let them explain more; 'Since 2012 we have been collecting eggs organically from our ponds and growing on the fry on our sites. After a few weeks, we grade our fish for the first time where we select our chosen few to grow on we hope these hand-selected carp will be our future big fish, ranging from C1s to C4s we are not only looking for growth, and scaling but also body shape and longevity to further our stocks across our lakes in years to come.

A popular syndicate ticket with a waiting list in place, but if you are lucky enough to get on The Rise you're in for a treat! A truly fitting end to our list of the best carp syndicates!

Fishing for me has long been more than a hobby, but more of an obsession. Since as far back as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by water, and all that which lives below the surface, and subsequently, as soon as I was old enough to hold a fishing rod, my angling journey started.
