Nash Tackle Titan T1 Camo Bivvy: A Total Fishing Tackle Review

Nash Tackle Titan T1 Camo Bivvy: A Total Fishing Tackle Review

The Nash Titan was the brainchild of Kevin Nash back in the 80's! Fast Forward 40 years and the latest additions to the Titan range of bivvies are really turning some heads. If you are looking for a new bivvy, then the Nash Titan T1 is a fantastic option.

THE NASH TITAN T1 CAMO BIVVY OVERVIEW

The Nash Tackle Titan bivvy has been around since before some of you were born and that is no exaggeration! So is the Titan T1 the best bivvy you can buy? Well no. It isn’t.

The Nash lads have done such a great job with the Scope range of gear, lightness, mobility, travel quick and get to where other anglers cannot reach. The Titan T1 bivvy though, is quite the opposite. Weighing in at a whopping 15kg the T1 Camo is not a lightweight option, in fact it is one of the heaviest one man set ups out there, BUT if you are happy to put up with that, what you have is also one of the best ‘one-man’ bivvies out there!

Now the eagle eyed amongst you will have spotted the ‘one-man’ in inverted commas and the reason for that is that we feel it is more of a 1.5-man bivvy, there is loads of room in there and this is one of the things we love about the T1. Included as standard in the entire T1 range is a removable inner capsule, essentially creating a fully sealed unit that no creepy crawlies can slide into and eliminating water ingress to the living/sleeping area. Again, this is great to have that as standard and not as an extra.

The frame design has changed over the years and in recent models there was an issue with water pooling on top of the bivvy above the door. Well, Nash have listened and acted. There is now a support bar that runs across the top of the door that you can attach the top of the bivvy to. This lifts the roof slightly and creates a runoff for the water and keeps it away from the door area. Well done to the Nash team for listening to their customers.

For such a big bivvy, the set-up time is remarkably quick. Thanks largely to the Titan design and the clever people at Nash. Don’t get me wrong, we are still talking minutes rather than seconds but impressive given the size.

What seem like standard fit now on all bivvies and shelters, the mozi mesh panels front and back provide great airflow in the warmer months, and the letter box opening on the door means that you can remain eyes on with the lake even if the worst weather, and this is where the Titan T1 comes into own. When the wind blows and the rain hammers down.

PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS

  • 5000mm HH armoured nylon construction
  • Removable Inner Capsule keep the elements and bugs at bay!
  • New Tension Bar eliminates pooling of water
  • Zip In Mesh Panel greta for summer nights
  • Rear Vents aid air flow and keep the bivvy cool
  • Internal Hook for hanging lantern

The T1 frame and centre boss are unbelievably strong. Coupled with the screw in bivvy pegs and front storm poles, this bivvy is going nowhere. For those of you that session fish all year round, I can see the T1 becoming your new best friend, especially with the inner capsule that provides that second skin and adds warmth.

So, what else do you get with the T1 as standard?

We already mentioned the inner capsule, there is also the screw pegs and the tension poles (storm poles) that both as standard, there is also a lighting attachment hook, perfect for lighting the shelter at night. There are, however, a couple of optional extras that you might be interest in.

First up is the Titan T1 overwrap, this provides an extra layer of protection in extreme weather and thanks to the porch on the bivvy itself, also provides an area for the storage of muddy boots, buckets etc. With the addition of both the inner capsule and the overwrap, the T1 becomes a great session bivvy for extreme UK weather and for long sessions.

If you are thinking of spending a week or more in your T1 camo, then we suggest looking at the T1 Extreme Canopy. This huge overwrap extends the front of the bivvy but a considerable amount giving two separate areas. You’ll have your sleeping area and a day-to-day workspace where you can sit and tie rigs at a table on one side whilst utilising the other side for cooking and further storage. This is a fantastic piece of kit for those long fishing sessions or even a family camping trip!

There is no doubt that the T1 Camo is a great bivvy but for the price of the T1, we would have liked to have seen a thicker material used other than the 5000mm HH nylon. When spending that much on a bivvy, we expect a bit more quality. I guess by including the inner capsule as standard, they had to keep the cost down elsewhere. 5000mm HH is perfectly adequate for any fishing shelter, but a thicker material would have been ideal, especial if not using the inner capsule.

All in all, if you are looking to travel light then the T1 is not the bivvy for you, but if you are barrowing your gear to the lake then the T1 takes some beating!

Fishing for me has long been more than a hobby, but more of an obsession. Since as far back as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by water, and all that which lives below the surface, and subsequently, as soon as I was old enough to hold a fishing rod, my angling journey started.
