Oh, how times have changed! 30 years ago when I started carp angling the choices of carp fishing rods and indeed many other items of tackle were very limited. Fast forward 30 years and the choices are vast which is great but it can make choosing new gear a bit tricky, our resident angling expert Wayne Box takes a look at some of the best carp fishing rods for beginners.
DOES CHEAP MEAN POOR QUALITY?
Absolutely not! As a beginner, there is no point in splashing out hundreds of pounds on a set of carp fishing rods. There are a plethora of carp fishing rods for under £100 that will be perfect as your first set. A better question might be, what should you be looking out for?
Well, firstly for adults, you'll want a rod that is 12ft in length, with a test curve of around 3lb or 3.25lb. The test curve is how much weight is required to bend the rod through 90 degrees. A 12ft 3.25lb test curve rod is a great starting point, look for a rod that comes from a reputable brand. Thankfully everything we sell here at TFT is chosen because it is a great product. So, let's take a look at our top three best carp fishing rods for beginners.
