The Baitrunner OC offers a great combination of value and power. Originally designed for the American saltwater market, this no-nonsense Baitrunner also makes a great big fish freshwater reel for anglers who want additional strength.
Don’t be fooled by the ‘OC’ suffix (Oceanic) of this tough Baitrunner. Although it was originally developed for saltwater bait fishing, it also makes a great freshwater reel for catfish, pike and carp. With its low price and tough build quality you really can’t go wrong with this trusted model. The attractive black body and silver spool combination is understated and will suit most ‘specimen’ situations where a freespool set-up is required.
Constructed from Shimano’s XT-7 composite, this reel is lighter than you would expect and is fitted with Shielded A-RB bearings, which are corrosion resistant in saltwater, so you can be sure they will be just fine in freshwater. The AR-C spool, with its unique angled spool lip, works in conjunction with Varispeed, Shimano’s variable oscillation system delivering great line lay with both mono and braid. All model sizes have a 4.8:1 gear ratio, which delivers a lot of cranking power and the powerful front drag will cope with anything you might hook in both freshwater the sea.
