Daiwa Tournament Basiair Z45 QD Mag Sealed
If you’re an avid member of ttje carp fishing community then you’ll know all about the Basiair series of reels from Daiwa. Daiwa has been producing world class reels since the 1960s, but the introduction of Basiairs onto the market launched the brand to new heights. The original Basiairs more than simply set a new standard for big pit reels; they hoisted the bar so high that other manufactures have found it impossible to beat. This latest edition to the Basiair family, the Daiwa Tournament Basiair Z45 QD Mag Sealed, has performed that impossible action, besting even the original Basiair.
Fitted with a wealth of features that owners of the original will be very well acquainted with, the new Tournament Basiair Z45 features some subtle adaptations that allow it to exponentially improve its performance. The biggest of these is the rotor material change. The original Basiair featured Air Rotor which, at the time, was Daiwa’s lightest and strongest rotor system. This new model’s rotor has been constructed from Zaion. This is Daiwa’s unique magnesium and carbon mix. Impossibly light and with hulk-like strength, this material allows the reel to perform at a never-before seen level that really has to be experienced to be believed.
Not only this, but this new Tournament Basiair Z45 QD has been Mag Sealed. Mag Sealing is a technology that was first invented by the scientists at NASA who were looking for a completely leak free way of transporting rocket fuel into space. They came up with innovative magnetic oil sealing technique. Able to adapt to high pressure change, this magnetic oil forms a faultless seal. Daiwa has taken this technology and reversed it. Rather than keeping liquid in, Daiwa have used Mag Sealed technology to keep water, grit, and grime out of the body of your reel.
