TFT Verdict For the price, we think this is one of the best beginner's poles that you can buy. Very close to being the top choice! A superb pole for the money and great for beginners. Very little product information available, but Daiwa UK-made poles are used by the very best. Superb for commercial carp bagging! Nice and strong but super light. A great pole from Maver, only marked down as it is more expensive than others.

MAP TKS 101 3G

TKS poles are world-renowned for their quality and reliability. With 10 poles in the TKS 3G range, MAP has certainly covered all the bases. This may also be my one criticism, though, ten poles are slightly unnecessary in my opinion. That said, the number of poles is my only negative, and the TKS 101 3G is a fantastic pole for those starting on their match fishing journey.

The original TKS 101 was considered by many anglers as the market leader for its price point; however, the new TKS 101 3 G has raised the bar once more in performance, without having to break the bank balance. We have not only improved the balance, but we have also made it stronger than ever, which makes it ideal for commercial fishing. Even though we have increased the wall strength throughout, we have still made it some 70 grams lighter than the original TKS 101. For 2019, each top kit supplied with the pole features a unique depth marker print, so you can quickly find the correct amount of depth you require, or know what depth you were fishing at. Each kit is also supplied with an extra-long PTFE bush fitted as standard, and fitted with our unique side puller.

Match fishing isn't everyone's cup of tea, and the initial cost outlay can be quite expensive. All that said, match fishing has never been so popular, and some of the 'big money' finals are paying out over £70,000 to the winner! You win your qualifier to make it through to the final, then you win again to get the big payday! You can't get that sort of payout in carp fishing!
So, can anyone enter these matches? They can! You sign up for the qualifier of your choice and your entrance fee, turn up on the day, draw your peg out and away you go! Sounds easy, right? Well no. It isn't. You will be up against some good match anglers, the best in the UK!

If you have been fishing club matches for a while, you might fancy a go, but what are the Pros and Cons of entering these big-money events?

PROS

  • Chance to win some SERIOUS money.
  • Fish against the very best in the UK.
  • Get to experience the hype of the event.
  • Anyone can enter!

  • You can fish as many qualifiers as you like.

CONS

  • You will be up against the very best anglers!
  • Entering multiple qualifiers can be expensive.
  • A bad draw can ruin the day before it's begun.
  • Only the winner goes through to the final.
  • Qualifiers have over 100 anglers fishing.

Fishing for me has long been more than a hobby, but more of an obsession. Since as far back as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by water, and all that which lives below the surface, and subsequently, as soon as I was old enough to hold a fishing rod, my angling journey started.
