Carp Fishing Landing Nets FAQs

What material net do I need?

Carp nets will generally be of a fabric material. However, the softer the mesh, the better, as this is kinder on the fish.

What size of net is right for me?

This will often be down to the size of fish you are pursuing or the rules of the fishery. Generally, a 42” net is suitable for all waters.

Should I choose a round or D-shaped net?

Most carp specimen nets will be a Triangular V shape. Rod nets are smaller and more suited to smaller sized fish in smaller commercial waters.

What are the main differences between the more expensive nets and the cheaper options?

Much like rods, more expensive nets will be constructed of better materials. This will make them stronger, but more importantly lighter and easier to assemble/disassemble, so they are easier to manoeuvre in the water when netting a fish.

Will a longer handle reduce stability of the net?

A longer handle will generally not reduce stability as the net will not be fully lifted from the water once the fish is netted.

Are most nets collapsible?

Yes, all specimen V shaped nets are collapsible. The net arms will remove from the spreader block so the net can be rolled up.

Types of carp fishing nets

Every angler needs a reliable fishing or landing net to finish the job and bring in the catch, and here at Total Fishing Tackle, we have many that are ideal for the task. We supply carp landing nets that include shorter handles and those that can be assembled for easier storage, perfect for anglers who use boats or who want a handle that folds down for versatility. Whatever type of carp landing net you require, you’ll find a suitable option amongst our available products online. We stock some of the biggest brands around including Prologic, Sonik, Kodex, ESP, Nash and more, helping you to land that perfect catch every time.

These days, fishing nets are made from stronger, specially engineered carbon materials and many net handles are now made from materials you would usually see in the construction of fishing rods themselves. This means the net has improved strength and durability and has shed some weight, improving the angler’s experience. The Solar Bow Loc Net is a great example of a modern net; the unique, one touch spreader block makes set up quick and really easy. These nets are perfect for catching your personal best!

Carp Fishing Landing Nets

Modern fishing nets have come a long way in recent years compared to older models that were prone to squashing and easy breakage with too much weight. They were also heavy, which can be exhaustive, and even the spreader blocks were inclined to give way. These days, fishing landing nets are stronger, made from engineered carbon materials. Many landing net handles are made from the same materials used for fishing rods, meaning the net has improved strength and durability and has also shed some weight, improving the angler’s experience.

Carp landing nets traditionally come in two sizes: 36-inch and 42-inch. Fishery rules will largely dictate the size of the net you need - but if there’s even a small chance of landing a 30lb whopper, then we say go for a 42-incher! If you tend to fish in higher stocked commercial fisheries where fish sizes are likely to be much smaller, then a 36-inch net will be more than adequate. Check the rules of your fishery or club to make sure you don’t get caught out.

A handle of about 6ft in length is the standard size for a landing net and will suffice the majority of the time. A net float will also safely ensure you don’t lose your net if it is dropped in the water. The Solar Bow Loc Net is a great example of a modern net, with its unique, one-touch spreader block making it quick and easy to set up.

High-Quality & Reliable Carp Landing Nets

We have everything you need to increase your catches whether you’re an experienced angler, or even just starting out. From tackling carp to coarse fish out at sea, we have carp landing nets and fishing landing nets for coarse fish available. If you fish in areas that have shallow waters, a deep mesh is more likely to get caught on the bottom and create all sorts of problems for you. If the margins are deep enough and you regularly fish alone, a deeper mesh will allow you to safely leave the fish to recover in the fishing net whilst being able to compose yourself and get the perfect photo for preservation.

With any fishing landing net, an important thing to remember is to keep them clean to ensure you are not transferring any diseases between fisheries or lakes. We have cleaning products to ensure your favourite spots don’t get wiped out by a contaminated net. A recommendation from us is to consider stink bags or net bags. Adding these to your setup will help contain the fish in your net, so you won’t have any premature release back into the water.
