Trakker Big Snooze Sleeping Bags: A Total Fishing Tackle Review

Trakker Big Snooze Sleeping Bags: A Total Fishing Tackle Review

The Trakker Big Snooze sleeping bag has been around for a good number of years and is one of our best selling sleeping bags. We asked resident blogger Wayne Box to take a closer look at why this sleeping bag was so popular!

I am trying to think back to when I had my first Trakker Big Snooze sleeping bag. It must be well over 12 years ago and in carp fishing terms, that is a long time for a product to still be outselling its rivals. Of course, it has undergone some changes throughout that time and my current version is a good few years old now, so I thought I would take a look at the latest Big Snooze sleeping bags and see why they are still so popular!

The original Trakker Big Snooze sleeping bag was your bog-standard fleece lined, nylon coated sleeping bag, not waterproof or water resistant in any way shape or form but it was nice and warm despite being a three season bag. In the winter I used to throw a bedchair cover over the top and I was warm as toast.

Over the following years I changed to a sleep system and the Big Snooze was left to rack and ruin, the mice got their teeth stuck into it and it was sadly retired inured some time ago.

Trakker - Big Snooze

I then saw that Trakker had released a Big Snooze sleeping bag with a nylon lining and not fleece lined like its predecessor, this was the only downfall of the old Big Snooze, the fleece lining acted like Velcro and if you bolted out the sleeping bag to hit a run, more often than not the sleeping bag would come with you, fine in the summer but not ideal in the mud and rain.

Anyway, fast forward to current times and the Big Snooze is making a big comeback so let’s look at the new models a bit closer.

Firstly, the Big Snooze Sleeping Bag now comes in three different sizes, compact, standard and wide. The fleece lining still remains, but the materials have evolved somewhat over the last 15 years and this one feels less like it is going to stick to you as you burst out of the bivvy to hit a run! Anyway, let’s hear what Trakker have to say about them…….

‘The Big Snooze+ Sleeping Bag is an ultra-light and versatile sleeping bad which has been fleece-lined for greater comfort and warmth. Manufactured from a highly breathable Ripstop material, it features quick-release zips on both sides with webbing to prevent the zips from snagging when making a swift exit from the sleeping bag. It comes in three sizes; Compact, Standard and Wide, allowing it to suit a greater variety of beds and to secure the sleeping bag in place and reduce movement, it also has a bedchair fixing strap and fully elasticated head and foot fixings, so it will stay securely on your bed until you want to take it off.’
